This is the dancing group who arrived at the Palace with drums and spears to collect Senior Chief Shakumbila who was all dressed in black with a headdress. They then escorted him to this field nearby where the crowds were gathering and waiting.
This was the start of the annual traditional ceremony called Ikubi-Lya-loongo of the Sala people of Zambia. It is a celebration of the strength of the Sala people in conquering other tribes, and took part in the Chiefdom of Shakumbila.
